Infrastructure & Server Management
Windows Server & IT Infrastructure
On-premise infrastructure is not going away. Hybrid environments combining local servers with Azure or Microsoft 365 are the norm for US SMBs. We design, deploy, and manage Windows Server environments that are stable, maintainable, and properly documented.
Key Capabilities
Windows Server Setup & Config
From initial deployment to production-ready configuration — AD, DNS, DHCP, file services, and server roles configured to your business requirements.
Active Directory & Group Policy
New domain setup, OU structure design, security baselines via GPO, software deployment, and remediation of inherited or undocumented AD environments.
Virtualization (Hyper-V & VMware)
VM deployment, snapshots, and resource management on Hyper-V and VMware. Right-sized for SMB workloads without over-provisioning.
Hybrid Azure Architecture
On-premise, hybrid Azure, and cloud-first architecture scoped to your size and budget. DNS, DHCP, and Azure DNS integration handled correctly.
Storage & File Services
Windows file server, NAS integration, Azure Files, and DFS namespace configuration. Permissions structured to prevent data sprawl.
Infrastructure Documentation
Every engagement ends with complete documentation: network diagrams, server inventory, GPO register, and runbooks your team can actually use.
Who This Is For
- Businesses setting up their first on-premise server environment and need it done right the first time
- Companies running aging infrastructure that needs modernisation, consolidation, or documentation
- IT managers who inherited an environment with no docs and need a clear picture fast
- Organizations planning a phased migration to Azure who need their on-premise environment in order first
What You Get
A Stable, Documented Environment
No more mystery servers. Every system is inventoried, documented, and configured to a defensible baseline you can hand to the next engineer.
End-of-Life Risk Eliminated
Clear migration path from Windows Server 2012/2016 to supported platforms — before a security incident forces your hand at the worst possible time.
Right Hardware Spec, Right Budget
A scoping assessment produces a specific hardware recommendation with TCO over the full refresh cycle — no guesswork, no over-buying.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should we migrate our on-premise servers to Azure, or keep them local?
It depends on workload type, compliance requirements, and total cost. File servers are often cheaper and more performant on-premise for SMBs than Azure Files at equivalent performance tiers. Active Directory domain controllers are increasingly hybrid rather than full-cloud. The honest answer: “move everything to the cloud” is a vendor sales pitch, not an architecture principle. The right answer is workload-by-workload analysis with real TCO numbers.
Our Windows Server 2016 is approaching end of life. What should we do?
Windows Server 2016 reaches end of support in January 2027. Options in order of preference: migrate the workload to a supported platform (Server 2022 or Azure), extend support via Extended Security Updates while planning migration, or accept the risk (not recommended for internet-facing systems). The right path depends on what the server is actually running. A workload assessment is the starting point.
We need a new server. What spec should we buy?
Specification depends entirely on workload. A file server, domain controller, and virtualization host have very different requirements. The variables that matter most: number of concurrent users, storage I/O requirements, whether virtualization is needed, and your backup strategy. Buying the wrong spec in either direction is expensive. A 30-minute scoping call produces a specific recommendation with TCO over the expected refresh cycle.
